Media Release

Several Service NSW Centres will be closed over the coming days to protect both customers and staff with Cyclone Alfred expected to impact the northern regions of the State as it tracks towards the coast.

With residents of the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast told to prepare for damaging winds, large surf, and intense rainfall, the following Service Centres will be closed to all in-person transactions, including Driving Tests from Thursday until Saturday:

The following Service NSW Centres are currently open but may be closed Friday and Saturday, depending on the severity of the storm, so please check the opening hours of your local Service Centre on the Service NSW website before attending:

Due to the extreme weather conditions expected with Cyclone Alfred, Driving Tests at these Service Centres will be rescheduled at no cost to customers and those affected will be contacted directly.

The Mobile Service Centre which was servicing the northern areas of the State will also be unavailable in the region with Cyclone Alfred expected to cross the coast later this week.

All outreach programs and community events organised by Service NSW in those affected regions will also be rescheduled to a later date.

Where required, transactions can still be carried out online at service.nsw.gov.au or over the phone by calling 13 77 88.

Service NSW Managing Director, Greg Wells said:

“This weather event is expected to be an extreme one so Service NSW is doing all we can to ensure our customers and staff are being looked after by allowing our teams to work remotely where practical, and assisting our customers to complete their transactions from home.”

“Closing our Service Centres is only done in cases of emergency, but our teams will still be online and on the phone, to help those who may be inconvenienced by the closures to complete their transactions as easily as possible.”

“In preparing for the worst, we are hoping for the best and wish all those in the path of Cyclone Alfred the very best in the coming days and hope that everyone stays safe.”
