Introduction

If your E-Toll tag is faulty due to a battery or technical problem, you can get it replaced free of charge.

Faulty tags can be returned to a Service NSW Centre or by post.

Note: Before returning your tag, you should make sure that it has been installed properly. Check the installation instructions and try re-installing first.

You need to follow a different process if your tag has been lost or stolen.

What you need

  • the faulty tag
  • a signed letter giving an authorised representative the authority to replace the tag on your behalf (if applicable).

How to replace

Take the faulty tag to a service centre

If you're unable to visit a service centre, you can post your tag to:
E-Toll Business Operations
PO BOX 1447
Parramatta NSW 2124.

Note: You'll need to wrap the tag in aluminium foil. This makes sure you do not incur any toll road charges while the tag is in transit.

To remove your tag from its bracket, refer to the installation instructions.

What happens next

  • You can use toll roads immediately, provided you list a valid licence plate number on your account.
  • Your new tag will be posted to your nominated address within 5 to 7 business days.
  • If your tag is tested and confirmed faulty, E-Toll may consider crediting video matching fees to your account.

More information

Fees apply for tags that are not returned, lost in transit, or have been deliberately damaged.
