Introduction

A tattooist licence allows you to perform body art tattooing procedures in NSW.

The NSW Police Force Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate (SLED) will email or post you a renewal form about 60 days before your licence expiry date. 

You should lodge your renewal application to SLED via post on or before your licence expires.

If your licence has expired you may apply to restore the licence within 3 months of the expiry date. After that, you must reapply for a licence.

Eligibility

People with a current tattooist licence.

What you need

  • completed renewal form
  • requested documents (these will be listed in the email or letter sent to you)
  • your payment.

How to renew

  1. Complete the renewal form sent to you.
  2. Gather the requested documents.
  3. Post your renewal form, the requested documents and fee to:
    Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate
    Locked Bag 5099
    Parramatta NSW 2124

More information

  • If you do not receive a renewal form call SLED on 1300 362 001.
  • If your application is approved, you will keep your existing licence number.
