Introduction
If your existing NSW-issued number plates are damaged or worn, you can replace them with the same content and style (if still available) through myPlates or at a Service NSW Centre.
You can also:
- get a restyle
- order new plates
- change plates, for example, from special number plates to standard number plates (this must be done at a service centre).
You cannot order a replacement for number plates that have been lost, stolen or destroyed.
Eligibility
Anyone who has number plates registered in their name.
What you need
To replace number plates online, you'll need your:

- number plate details
- old number plates
- payment.
To replace number plates at a service centre, you'll need:
- the completed PDF form – 'Number Plates and/or Cancellation of Registration'

- your old number plates
- your payment.
How to replace
You can replace your number plates online with a:
- like-for-like remake (same content, same style)
- restyle (same content, different style)
- new order (different content, different style).
You can also replace your number plates by completing the form Number Plates and/or Cancellation of Registration – PDF and visiting a service centre.
Note: You must visit a service centre if you wish to change your current number plates to standard number plates, also known as general issue number plates (black and yellow) or standard content number plates (black and white, slim bordered), unless those are the types of plates you currently have, and you are simply replacing like for like.
