If you need transport to or from a health facility such as a hospital or rehabilitation unit, you may be able to access the Patient Transport Service. The service is offered to patients who don't require emergency ambulance services and is provided by NSW Health.

To be eligible you need to be:

  • assessed by a medical practitioner or a registered nurse as having a low risk of deterioration
  • medically unsuitable for community, public or private transport.

Only health professionals and staff in hospitals, aged care facilities, private hospitals, nursing homes and general practitioner's surgeries can make bookings.

For information about this service, including eligibility requirements and instructions on how to book, visit NSW Health.
