Introduction

If you've applied to register a relationship in NSW and you want to withdraw the application, you can do so, provided your notice to withdraw is submitted within 28 days of the original application.

You can submit a notice in person at a Service NSW Centre or by post. 

Eligibility

One of both partners named on the original application can submit a notice to withdraw the application.

What you need

  • the PDF form – 'Application to register a relationship'
  • your contact details
  • your identification documents as specified on the form, either:
    • original copies if submitting your notice to withdraw in person, or
    • certified copies if mailing your notice
  • your partner's contact details and identification documents (if applicable).

How to withdraw

  1. Select the 'Download PDF form' button. 
  2. Complete the last page of the form.
  3. Gather your identification documents.
  4. Lodge your form and documents in person at a service centre or by post to the details on the form.

More information

  • There is no fee to submit a notice to withdraw, but the original fee you paid for the application to register a relationship, is not refundable.
  • Certified copies must be verified as true and correct copies of the originals by one of the following:
