Verifying a person's Working with Children Check
There are different ways to verify a person's WWCC depending on whether you’re:
Organisations, businesses and sole traders with employees
You must register with the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG) online system.
Once registered, you can verify the WWCC details of your workers or volunteers online using the Employer Portal.
Note: Sole traders with no employees do not need to register. They must supply their WWCC details to their client (such as parents) for them to verify.
Parents, guardians and carers
You need to verify a worker's WWCC before they start working for you.
When you verify, you'll see the worker's status. Confirmation of the verification will be sent to your email. If there is a change in status of the WWCC you'll be contacted by the OCG.
You can verify their WWCC by either:
- completing the Office of the Children's Guardian (OCG) online form, or
- using the Service NSW app.
Use the OCG online form
You’ll need the worker's:
- name
- date of birth
- WWCC number or application (APP) number.
Go to the OCG online form.
Use the Service NSW app
The worker must have added their WWCC to the Service NSW app.
You’ll need:
- the latest version of the Service NSW app on your phone
- a MyServiceNSW Account
- the worker's WWCC QR code displayed on their smartphone.
To verify using the app:
- Log in to the Service NSW app with your MyServiceNSW Account details.
- Under 'Services', select 'Check a licence or credential'.
- Follow the prompts to scan the QR code on the person's smartphone.
- Review the person's WWCC status and type of clearance (employee or volunteer).
Accessing your Working with Children Check details
The WWCC is an online system and does not have a physical card or certificate. The email you received when you were cleared has your WWCC number.
To access your WWCC details, you can either:
- add your WWCC to the Service NSW app, or
- complete the OCG online form.
Note: On the OCG form, select 'Verifying my own check' under reason for verification.
If you've applied for a WWCC and do not have your WWCC number, you can find your number.
