Introduction
Rent It Keep It (RIKI) is a free online training course about renting in NSW. This self-paced course takes about 2 hours to complete and covers:
- how to find, secure, keep, change, or end a rental tenancy
- your rights and responsibilities as a tenant
- what landlords and agents can and cannot do
- information for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The course is available in Arabic, Cantonese, English, Filipino, Hindu, Mandarin and Vietnamese.
Once you finish the course, you’ll receive a certificate of completion which can be used to support your rental applications.
Eligibility
RIKI is open to everyone in NSW and is particularly useful if you:
- have a limited rental history
- have had issues with a rental tenancy in the past
- are at risk of homelessness
- are looking for up-to-date information about renting in NSW.

You will need a Rent It Keep It Account.
How to access the course
- Select the ‘Access online’ button.
- Log in, or create your Rent It Keep It Account.
- Follow the prompts to take the course.
You can also access the course via the MyHousing mobile app.
