Introduction
If you need to voluntarily surrender a NSW driver or rider licence because it's no longer required, you're moving interstate or overseas, or the licensee is deceased, you can do this at a Service NSW Centre.
If the licensee is deceased, refunds may be applicable.
What you need
- your proof of identity
- your driver or rider licence (if available)
- a letter from a licensing authority confirming that your licence was transferred to another state or territory (if applicable and you don't have the licence)
- written evidence of authority (if you're surrendering a licence for someone else)
- confirmation of death, such as a death certificate or newspaper death notice (if the licensee is deceased).
How to surrender
- Gather the required documents.
- Visit a service centre and submit your documents in person.
