Business type: Business with no more than 200 full-time employees (or equivalent)

The $400 business support grant is available to businesses that have been directly impacted by the power outage in the Far West region of NSW from 17 October 2024.

One payment is allowed per Australian Business Number (ABN).

The payment is to help with out-of-pocket expenses incurred as a result of the power outage.

If you're not a business owner but have been affected by the Far West power outage, you may be eligible for a $200 support grant.

Eligibility

Your business must:

  • have an active ABN registered before 17 October 2024
  • have been operating in a local government area listed under disaster declaration AGRN 1149 or the town of Cockburn, South Australia, on 17 October 2024
  • employ no more than 200 full-time employees (or equivalent).

The following people can apply on your behalf – they'll need to be invited to your Business Profile or submit a letter of authority:

  • your accountant
  • registered tax agent
  • registered BAS agent
  • other business representative.

What you need

  • ABN of the business
  • proof of identity document of the person authorised to apply on behalf of the business
  • bank account details for payment
  • one of the following documents to show that the business was operating at an impacted address:
    • utility bill issued between 17 June 2024 and 17 October 2024
    • council rates notice between 17 October 2023 and 17 October 2024
    • copy of current commercial lease agreement current as of 17 October 2024
    • copy of ASIC extract
    • letter from the ATO issued between 17 October 2023 and 17 October 2024
    • invoice from a supplier issued between 17 June 2024 and 17 October 2024. 
  • letter of authority to show you're authorised to act on behalf of the business if you’re not the business owner
  • a MyServiceNSW Account if you’re applying online
    • you can create one when you start your application
    • you may need details from 2 identity documents (such as Australian driver licence, Medicare card, passport).

How to apply

Apply online

  1. Check you meet the eligibility criteria.
  2. Have your documents ready for uploading in JPG, PDF or TIF format (maximum file size 7 MB).
  3. Select the ‘Apply online’ button.
  4. Log in, or create your MyServiceNSW Account.
  5. Follow the prompts to apply for the grant.

When you submit your application, you'll receive a confirmation email with an application reference number.

After your application is received, it will be assessed. We’ll contact you if we need more information. If your application is approved, a payment will be transferred to your bank account within 5 to 10 business days.

Business Profile: How to invite a trusted person

To invite a trusted person like an accountant to apply for the grant on your behalf using the Business Profile, you will need to:

  1. Log into your MyServiceNSW account and select 'Business'.
  1. If your account is not verified, select 'Edit profile', then 'Verify status' and follow the prompts.
  1. Once verified, select 'Edit profile', then 'Edit users'.
  1. On the Manage Access page select the 'Add user' button.
  1. Invite the person you would like to manage the grant on your behalf.

They will then receive an email with an invitation and a one-time code to log into the Business Profile. Once they have provided proof of identity, they will be accepted and can apply for the grant.

It’s important that they log in using the same email address the invitation was sent to.
