Introduction
Builders and tradespeople in NSW need to be licensed to do building work. When you receive your renewal notice, you can renew your contractor licence online, unless:
- you want to seek an exemption from continuing professional development (CPD) obligations, or
- you need to make changes to your licence other than your contact details and address.
In the instances listed above, you'll need to visit a Service NSW Centre to renew your licence.
What you need
- your licence number
- your renewal number (as shown on your renewal notice), or your full personal details
- your fee payment.
How to renew
- Select the 'Renew online' button.
- Select 'Next'.
- Follow the prompts.
- Review your details and update (if applicable).
- Certify the declaration.
- Enter your payment details.
More information
- If you don't renew on time you'll have to make an application to restore your licence, which can be done at a service centre.
- If your licence has expired more than 3 months, you'll need to apply for a new licence to be re-issued.
- You cannot trade until your new licence is issued.
