Introduction

You'll receive a renewal notice for your motor vehicle tradesperson certificate a month prior to your certificate's expiry.

You can then apply for a 1, 3 or 5-year certificate, online.

In some instances, you'll need to visit a Service NSW Centre to renew your certificate.

Note: If your certificate expires, you are no longer authorised to carry out the type of repair work outlined on your certificate.

Eligibility

You are not able to renew online if you:

  • do not have your renewal number
  • have changed your name
  • cannot confirm the online declaration.

Note: It is your responsibility to tell us within 14 days if your name, address or other details change.

What you need

  • renewal number (as shown on your renewal notice)
  • certificate number
  • fee payment.

How to apply

  1. Select the 'Renew online' button.
  2. Follow the prompts to renew your certificate.

If you’re unable to renew online visit a service centre with your renewal notice.

More information

  • If you did not renew on time but the licence is within 3 months from its expiry date you can apply to restore your certificate.
  • If your certificate has expired more than 3 months, you may need to apply for a new licence to be re-issued.
