Introduction
Land value is the value of your land only – your home, or any additional structures or improvements you may have made, are not considered when the property is valued.
Every 3 years the NSW Valuer General sends you a Notice of Valuation showing how much your land is worth.
You can opt in to get your Notice of Valuation by email instead of receiving a paper notice.
Note: Your Notice of Valuation may have already been printed for postal delivery in this 3-year cycle. If you opt in now you may still get a paper notification, but you'll be opted in to receive an email for the next valuation cycle.
Eligibility
Properties must be owned by individuals.
If there are joint owners, each owner will need to opt in separately to receive their own email.
Note:
- Owners within a strata scheme (for example owners of a lot in an apartment building, townhouse or villa) are not eligible.
- Business property owners can register to get Notices of Valuation by email on the Valuer General's website.
What you need
- a MyServiceNSW Account
- you may need details from one identity document (such as Australian driver licence, Medicare card, passport)
- your property address.
How to opt in
- Select the 'Opt in' button.
- Log in, or create your MyServiceNSW Account.
- Follow the prompts to opt in.
More information
- If you're a joint owner and you opt in to get emails, you should let the other owners know. The other owners can opt in using their own MyServiceNSW Account. If a paper notice is needed later, all owners who opted in will need to opt out through their MyServiceNSW Account notifications.
- Councils use land values to calculate and distribute rates, see the Your land value fact sheet.
- The NSW Valuer General determines the value of land as if it were sold on 1 July in the valuing year.
