Introduction

You may want to downgrade your licence due to:

  • having been instructed to do so due to age or a medical condition
  • not having passed the driving test for the higher class
  • no longer needing a licence above class C.

You can downgrade your licence at a Service NSW Centre.

What you need

  • your current licence, or if this is not available, your proof of identity
  • your concession card details (if applicable)
  • evidence of why you need to downgrade, if involuntary, such as your:
    • medical report, or
    • driving test score sheet
  • your contact lenses or glasses (if you wear them)
  • the PDF form – 'Licence Application'.

How to apply

  1. Select the 'Download PDF form' button.
  2. Complete the form.
  3. Make sure you have all your documentation and any additional items (if applicable).
  4. Visit a service centre and submit your application.
