Introduction
You may want to downgrade your licence due to:
- having been instructed to do so due to age or a medical condition
- not having passed the driving test for the higher class
- no longer needing a licence above class C.
You can downgrade your licence at a Service NSW Centre.
What you need
- your current licence, or if this is not available, your proof of identity
- your concession card details (if applicable)
- evidence of why you need to downgrade, if involuntary, such as your:
- medical report, or
- driving test score sheet
- your contact lenses or glasses (if you wear them)
- the PDF form – 'Licence Application'.
How to apply
- Select the 'Download PDF form' button.
- Complete the form.
- Make sure you have all your documentation and any additional items (if applicable).
- Visit a service centre and submit your application.

- Renewal notices are posted generally within 6 weeks before the card's expiry date.
