From 3 July 2023 building works related to the Sydney Metro that are over, beside, or near a station – 'over station enabling works' – must comply with the Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020.
Building practitioners working on these projects need to be registered under the DBP Act.
If you're not eligible to be registered through the building practitioners pathway, you can still apply to register if:
- for body corporates – the company is a technically assured organisation under the Technically Assured Organisation (TAO) Scheme approved by Transport for NSW
- Apply to register as a building practitioner – body corporate class, to work on over station enabling works
- for individuals – you are nominated by a TAO
- Apply to register as a building practitioner – body corporate nominee/building practitioner – general class to work on over station enabling works.
When you apply through either of the above you are only registered under the DBP Act to work on over station enabling work.
To work on class 2, 3, or 9c buildings, visit Professional engineer and design and building practitioners and select the appropriate tile.
