Introduction
Parents, guardians and carers receiving Family Tax Benefit can apply for an Active and Creative Kids voucher for each eligible child.
The $50 voucher is available twice a year to use towards sport, creative and cultural activities.
Voucher 2 available now
If you haven't used voucher 1, you can apply for voucher 2 and use both vouchers together before 31 December 2024 for a combined value of $100.
Voucher 1 – 2024: Available from term 1
- Applications open: 1 February 2024
- Apply for and use the voucher by: 31 December 2024
Voucher 2 – 2024: Available from term 3
- Applications open: 15 July 2024
- Apply for and use the voucher by: 14 July 2025
Note:
- Vouchers must be used with a registered activity provider.
- Once you've received both vouchers, you can use them together, as long as they have not expired.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the voucher, a child must be:
- under the care of a parent, guardian or carer who is receiving in the current or previous financial year:
- Family Tax Benefit Part A
- Family Tax Benefit Part B
- both Family Tax Benefit Part A and Family Tax Benefit Part B
- a NSW resident
- aged between 4.5 and 18 years.
If you have more than one eligible child, you can apply for them in the same application.
Only one person can apply for the vouchers for a child.
Confirm your Family Tax Benefit eligibility
Before applying for the voucher, confirm your eligibility for the Family Tax Benefit either in your:
- Express Plus Centrelink mobile app or
- Centrelink online account through myGov.
Activities you can use the voucher for
You can use the voucher for eligible activities such as dance, music, football (soccer), martial arts, craft, gymnastics, visual arts, painting, drawing, drama, tennis, rugby league, singing, basketball, languages, netball, yoga, creative writing, choreography, circus arts and coding.

Activities you cannot use the voucher for
Vouchers cannot be:
- split between more than one provider
- redeemed for cash, gift vouchers or credit notes
- used for ineligible activities or items.
What you need
- a MyServiceNSW Account
- you can create one when you start your application
- you may need details from 2 identity documents (such as Australian driver licence, Medicare card, passport)
- one proof of identity document for the parent, carer or guardian (NSW Photo Cards cannot be used for this application)
- Medicare card details for your child
- your Centrelink Customer Reference Number (CRN) – which you'll find on letters sent to you by Centrelink or on your concession card, if you have one.
Note: If you do not want to provide your CRN online, call us on 13 77 88.
How to apply
- Check the eligibility requirements.
- Gather the required documents.
- Select the 'Apply online' button.
- Log in, or create your MyServiceNSW Account.
- Follow the prompts to apply for the voucher.
If successful, you'll:
- find the voucher under the ‘Vouchers’ section of the Service NSW App within a day
- receive an email from Service NSW with the voucher to download and print.
If you're unable to apply online, call us on 13 77 88.
How to use your voucher
- Find a participating provider.
Note: If your provider is not on the list, you can contact them directly to ask if they're participating. - Check with the provider that they're ready to accept vouchers.
- Let the provider know you're using the voucher for payment.
- Log in to the Service NSW app on your mobile device.
- Select ‘Vouchers’.
- Select the Active and Creative Kids voucher.
- Show the voucher QR code for the provider to scan.
Note: You may also pay with your voucher in other ways:- let the provider have the unique voucher number
- enter the voucher code, if the provider accepts online payment
- give the printed voucher to the provider.
- Your Service NSW app will show the voucher as being used.
Share a voucher
Vouchers must only be used for the child named on the voucher to participate in eligible activities.
If someone else is organising an activity for your child or taking your child to the participating provider, you can share an Active and Creative Kids voucher with them to use, if the voucher:
- has not been used
- is only used for the child named on the voucher.
Once you've shared the voucher, either you or the person you've shared it with, can use it. The voucher can only be used once.
Unused value
If you spend less than the voucher amount at a registered business, you cannot use the remaining value of the voucher.
