Introduction
As a licensed motor dealer, if you want authorisation to register vehicles, transfer and renew vehicle registrations and order number plates, you'll need to apply for a dealer agreement under the Dealer Vehicle Registration Scheme (DVRS). You can do this at a Service NSW Centre.
Note: The Dealer Online (DOL) system allows motor vehicle dealers to complete registration transactions online, without having to visit a service centre. You can submit your application for DOL access at the same time as completing your motor dealer agreement.
Eligibility
You must be one of the following:
- a dealer in NSW or within 50km of the NSW border, engaged in the sale, distribution and management of new vehicles or second-hand vehicles (or both), and who holds a NSW Motor Dealer Licence or interstate equivalent
- a NSW-based manufacturer or retailer of new trailers weighing less than 250kg
- a NSW-based entity who is engaged in the distribution or management of new motor vehicles.
What you need
- completed forms:
- proof of identity for the participant and the authorised services officer
- National Criminal Check (no more than 3 months old) for the participant representative and any person listed on Schedule 2 of the DVRS Agreement
- Australian Company Number (ACN) or Australian Registered Business Number (ARBN) full ASIC report
- public and products liability or broadform liability insurance policy
- Workers Compensation insurance certificate of currency
- copy of dealer licence (if a motor dealer)
- manufacturer or dealer franchise agreement (if a new vehicle dealer)
- proof of accreditation in the Heavy Vehicle Authorised Inspection Scheme (HVAIS) (if heavy vehicle dealer)
- on letterhead, a letter stating the make of trailer manufactured (if a trailer organisation)
- copy of the vehicle type approval issued by the Commonwealth Government (if a trailer organisation).

- Download and complete the application forms and DVRS Agreement.
- Make sure you have all the required documents.
- Submit your application at a Service NSW Centre.
