A Transport Management Plan (TMP) – PDF describes how an oversize and/or overmass (OSOM) journey will be managed on NSW roads.

The purpose of the plan is to ensure that journeys are carried out in a safe and responsible manner and with minimum impact on other road users and road infrastructure.

A TMP is required for all OSOM movements that:

  • are classified as 'High Risk' due to their dimensions and/or weight
  • travel on a 'High Risk' route
  • involve the transport of a 'Critical/Sensitive' load.

To complete the TMP you'll need to provide details of:

  • your vehicle and load
  • the proposed route(s)
  • the arrangement made for traffic management
  • the consultations undertaken with the stakeholder and the community.

The Transport Management Plan Fact Sheet – PDF provides clear instructions as to what is expected when completing the form

Note: If you'll be travelling over a railway crossing you will also need Rail Infrastructure Manager (RIM) approval.
