The Witness Assistance Service (WAS) supports victims and witnesses involved in criminal cases in NSW.

WAS can help with:

  • preparing to give evidence in court
  • court updates and debriefs
  • victim impact statements
  • information on victims’ rights and services.

Priority is given to:

  • people aged under 18
  • victims of sexual assault and serious domestic and family violence
  • family members of victims who have died in driving or homicide cases
  • people vulnerable through disability, age, or mental health.
