All children must be safely fastened in the correct child car seat for their age and size. The Centre for Road Safety provides information on national child restraint laws, and your legal obligations when travelling in a car with a child.
If you want some help to fit or adjust your child car seat, you can visit an Authorised Restraint Fitting station. All authorised stations listed have been trained to:
- inspect and adjust child car seats
- fit child car seats that require vehicle modifications
- install additional anchorage points
- retrofit lap and lap-sash seatbelts
- give you advice on the correct way to use your child car seat.
To find your nearest fitter in NSW, you can use the interactive map on Transport for NSW's website.
