The 10/50 Vegetation Clearing Scheme provides an additional way for NSW residents who live near bushland, to better prepare their homes for potential bushfires.
If you live in a designated area you're able to clear certain vegetation near your home without having to get approval from the local council or land services office.
The vegetation includes:
- trees on your property within 10 metres of your home
- underlying vegetation such as shrubs (not trees) on your property within 50 metres of your home.
The NSW Rural Fire Service provides an online tool so you can check whether you live in a designated area. Use the tool on the day you intend clearing, as you must follow the eligibility and/or rules in place at the time you clear any vegetation.
You're only permitted to clear your own land.
