Service NSW is collecting your personal information to assist with your application for an International Driver Permit (IDP). This notice sets out how we use, collect and disclose personal information about your application.
Applying for the International Driver Permit requires you to provide personal information to Service NSW. If you do not provide this information, Service NSW may not be able to assist with your application.
Types of personal information we collect
We will collect your personal information from you to assist with your IDP application.
Service NSW will collect the following personal information:
- driver licence details such as:
- first name
- last name
- middle name
- date of birth
- physical address
- licence restrictions
- NSW Driver Licence number
- NSW Driver Licence expiry date
- IDP booklet number
- email address, if a digital tax invoice is requested
- payment method details.
How we will use and disclose this information
We collect, maintain, and use your personal information to enable us to assist with your IDP application.
We may disclose your personal information to the National Roads and Motorists' Association Limited (NRMA), the Australian Automobile Association (AAA), and other government agencies and partners.
The NRMA and AAA uses the information to provide a service to you (the IDP). Please refer to the AAA IDP Privacy Policy for further information regarding this.
We may also disclose your personal information to law enforcement, dispute resolution, statutory or regulatory bodies, or as required by law.
Service NSW will not disclose your personal information to third parties unless you provide your consent, or we are required and authorised by law to do so.
Your personal information may be disclosed to other partner agencies, which may be located in Australia or have subsidiaries overseas.
Any information disclosed may only be used for the purposes of collection detailed above and for system administration.
Retention of Data
Service NSW is committed to making sure your personal data is secure. Your personal information will be stored securely, not kept longer than necessary, and disposed of appropriately.
