Transport for NSW has engaged Service NSW to enrol customers into the Driver Knowledge Test online (DKT online).
Why we are collecting your personal information
Service NSW is collecting your personal information for the following purposes:
- to process your enrolment and determine your eligibility to participate in the DKT online
- to establish or maintain your MyService NSW Account and link it to Transport's driver licensing and registration system so you can access DKT online
- to contact you about your enrolment, progress and important information on next steps
- to invite you to participate in voluntary evaluation of the DKT online if you have agreed to this
- to respond to and communicate if you make a complaint or enquiry about DKT online
- other directly related purposes.
Service NSW will only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to facilitate your enrolment in DKT online or for related purposes.
Types of personal information we collect
Service NSW is collecting the following types of personal information:
- your name, email address, gender, mobile phone number, residential address, and mailing address
- proof of identity documents
- your Transport for NSW unique identifier, if you have one. Common examples include your customer number and NSW photocard number.
Service NSW will temporarily collect some information about you to check your eligibility in DKT online. This information is not saved or stored by Service NSW and includes questions about whether you:
- reside in NSW
- are 15 year and 11 months of age or older
- hold or ever held a NSW interstate driver licence, a learner licence, a full licence or an overseas licence
- have ever been disqualified, suspended or refused from driving a vehicle, or riding a motorcycle, in Australia or overseas
- have any overdue fines from Revenue NSW
- have any vision or health conditions that may affect your driving.
How we will use and disclose your personal information
Service NSW will use or disclose personal information for the primary purpose that it was collected for, or a directly related secondary purpose.
We maintain and use information collected about you for internal administrative purposes, including for the purpose of our interactions with you.
We disclose personal information from your identity documents to the Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs to verify the information you provide with the Document Verification Service (DVS).
Service NSW will share the information we collect from you directly with Transport for NSW to be verified with their driver licensing and registration system.
Once your MyServiceNSW Account is successfully linked with Transport for NSW, you will be able to view your DKT online progress, along with any updates to this information, in your MyServiceNSW Account. This information will continue to be hosted by Transport for NSW and is not collected or stored by Service NSW.
Service NSW will not disclose your personal information to anyone else unless you provide your consent, or we are required or authorised to do so by law.
Whether you are required by law to provide us with this information
Providing us with the requested information is not required by law. However, if you choose not to provide us with the requested information we will not be able to enrol you in DKT online.
