Why we are collecting your personal information

Service NSW and the NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) are holding community information sessions to seek feedback on the proposed approach for the Central West Resilient Homes Program (the Program).

At the information sessions, Service NSW and RA may collect your personal information to make your future application for the Program easier, and to contact you to discuss your feedback, or once support becomes available.

Any personal information collected by Service NSW will also be shared with RA, who are responsible for developing and administering the Central West Resilient Homes program.

Types of personal information we collect

Service NSW and RA may collect the following personal information from you at a community information session:

  • your name and contact details
  • details about your accessibility needs and whether you require an interpreter
  • details about the disaster/s you have been impacted by
  • details about your property and your relationship to the property (owner or renter)
  • how your property has been impacted and any repairs started or completed
  • your preferred next step for your property and preferences for future support
  • any other feedback about the design of the Central West Resilient Homes program
  • if you have been authorised to provide the above information on another’s behalf, this person’s contact details.

How we will use and disclose this information

Service NSW and RA use personal information it collects about you to:

  • design and develop the Central West Resilient Homes program
  • contact you to request further information about your feedback
  • contact you to advise you when applications open for the Program, or about other relevant support that you may be eligible for based on the information provided
  • If you choose to apply for the Program in future, we can use the information provided as part of your application so that you don’t have to provide all the same information again. We’ll check with you before we do this, and you'll be given a chance to review your responses to confirm that the information is accurate.

The feedback you provide about the design of the Program will be de-identified and aggregated before it is published or presented, unless you give permission for your personal information to be included. ‘De-identified’ means that we won’t include things that could identify you like your name, contact details or property address.

If you consent, RA may share your contact details with external support providers so that they can contact you about other disaster-related services and support relevant to you.

Service NSW maintains and uses information collected about you for internal administrative purposes, including for the purpose of our interactions with you.

Service NSW or RA will not disclose your personal information to anyone else unless you provide your consent, or we are required or authorised to do so by law.

Whether you are required by law to provide us with this information

Providing us with the requested information is not required by law and you are still able to attend information sessions and provide feedback on the Program anonymously if you choose (without having your responses and feedback connected to your name or property).

However, if you choose not to provide us with the requested personal information now, we will need to request much of the same information if you apply for the Program in the future.
