Rural Fire Service Advisory Council

Three bodies are empowered by legislation to assist in the operation of the NSW RFS, the:

• Rural Fire Service Advisory Council
• Bush Fire Co-ordinating Committee
• Fire Services Joint Standing Committee

The Rural Fire Service Advisory Council's main functions are:

• to advise and report to the Minister and the NSW RFS Commissioner on any matters relating to the administration of rural fire services under the Act.
• advise the Commissioner on public education programs relating to rural fire matters and training of rural firefighters.
• advise the Commissioner on the issue of Service Standards.
