More information

The Law Courts Library acts as a legal research and information centre for the judicial officers and staff of the New South Wales Courts and Tribunals.

Judges and staff of the High Court of Australia and Federal Court of Australia based in the Law Courts building can access and borrow from the library’s physical collections.

Legal practitioners and law librarians may apply to access the Law Courts Library’s physical collections on a user-pays basis, but this does not include borrowing, research assistance or access to online subscription databases.

Access charges for practitioners are levied on a daily, monthly and financial year basis. Rates and application forms are published on the Law Courts Library website.

Although access to the library is limited to judicial officers, registrars, court staff, legal practitioners and law librarians, members of the public can search the library's catalogue and request to purchase judgments for a fee.
